Read this short article to discover what’s new, what’s been fixed, and why the new Revu 21.8 updates matter.

New Features in Revu 21.8

Below are the prominent new features you can access in the latest Bluebeam Revu 21.8.

1) Round Corners for Polygon and Polyline Markups

You can now round multiple corners of Polygon and Polyline markups in a single go. Draw a polygon or a polyline, ignore the curved regions, and complete your shape by drawing line segments seperated by anchor points (click and release to mark individual anchors). Right-click and hit the "Round All Corners" option from the menu. Revu will automatically identify the small segments of your shape and turn them into a curve.

2) Improved Studio Project Search with Markup Results

Studio Project Search has been upgraded to show markup results for each file, along with direct links that take you straight to the markup's exact location. This makes it much easier to work with large project sets, find specific comments or measurements, and review detailed audit markups.

3) Faster Text Editing with Ctrl + Backspace

Text editing in Revu now feels more natural and familiar. You can delete an entire word at once using Ctrl + Backspace when working with text markups. It’s a small change, but it can significantly speed up edits and make your everyday markup work smoothly and efficiently.

4) Task Link: Connecting Office and Field Teams

The latest feature in Revu 21.8 is task link, an integration between Bluebeam Revu and GoCanvas. This has been created to assist office teams in allocating tasks directly out of Revu and getting on-the-ground feedback without leaving the software.

How the task link works:

  1. Drop a markup on a drawing in Revu.
  2. Attach a GoCanvas mobile form to the markup.
  3. Dispatch the job to your field force.

Once the task is sent, field users receive notifications in the GoCanvas mobile app, and they can view task details, access the related Revu PDF drawings, and see the assigned date. After the form is completed, it is automatically submitted and linked back to the original markup in Revu.

This ensures that the information in the office is constantly up to date in the field, corresponding to the task it originated from.

Requirements and Availability

  • It needs a paid Bluebeam account.
  • Needs GoCanvas Lite or beyond.
  • It is accessible in every part of the world.
  • Currently, GoCanvas supports US-English.

Task Link can be used for inspections, punch lists, site verification, and any work process that requires accurate, timely field information.

What’s Fixed in Revu 21.8

Revu 21.8 includes a comprehensive set of fixes to improve usability, stability, and overall platform reliability. These updates address common pain points across markup tools, file handling, printing, and navigation to ensure a smoother day-to-day experience.

Markup and Measurement Fixes

Several issues affecting markup visibility and measurement behaviour have been resolved. Highlighted fill area measurements now remain properly tied to document visibility during placement, and polygonal area measurements no longer disappear at certain angles as they are drawn.

File and Compatibility Fixes

File handling and compatibility have been improved across multiple scenarios. Vitrium-protected files that previously failed to open are now supported, PDF attachments opened from Outlook no longer display as blank screens on ARM64 devices, and JavaScript-based form submissions are functioning as expected.

Printing and Output Fixes

Updates to printing and output workflows improve consistency and reliability. PDFs created from AutoCAD using the Bluebeam PDF Printer no longer apply unintended 90-degree rotations, and the Stapler wizard now consistently uses the selected output folder instead of reverting to the system default.

Links and Navigation Improvements

The external link feature in Revu has been refined to reduce interruptions. Clicking links no longer opens multiple browser tabs; certain links now open directly as PDFs instead of web pages. Project Path and Original Location links in Studio can now be copied correctly.
