How is Bluebeam helping the Construction Industry?

Featured Image

With the construction industry being responsible for over 40% of carbon emissions, we are seeing some positive steps being taken towards our industry becoming Net Zero by 2050. (Net-zero is formulated in law as cutting greenhouse gas emissions to “at least 100%” below 1990 levels by 2050).

BLUEBEAM IS INVESTED IN SUSTAINABILITY GOALS

Here are few examples of how Bluebeam® Revu® is helping our clients become more sustainable, while improving efficiency and profitability.

Challenge 1:

Premier Mechanical were looking to produce better estimates, become more efficient and add value to their project delivery model, and improve the consistency and delivery of information between the office, fabrication shop and the field.

Solution:

Bluebeam Revu has completely transformed their project delivery methods, elevated efficiency and saved money by digitalising paper-based workflows. Premier adopted the program’s markup, custom profiles, custom tool sets, slip-sheet features and 3D PDFs for tender submission, while also using Studio Sessions for field communications and owner transparency.

Outcome:

Revu has improved tender accuracy, quality and sales appeal, resulting in more jobs won, while reducing paper-based errors during scope review and project management. Revu has also saved 10,219 m2 of paper per year (£8,500 – £10,500) and eliminated time spent dealing with paper, estimated to be 1,000 hours at a cost of close to £50,000 per annum.

helps cut design review times

Challenge 2:

Arup was experiencing issues with quality and accuracy of drawings along with lacking consistency of manual document annotations for design review. This kept stakeholders occupied with document management as opposed to adding value to projects by focusing on design and execution.

This was slowing down the Review process, due to the reliance on email for the heavy project collaboration, as some projects involved stakeholders working in remote offices across the globe.

Solution:

At Arup, Bluebeam Revu has improved the project efficiency through better collaboration and improved project communication and streamlined processes.

By using PDF, Revu enables a common data environment for owners, architects, engineers and contractors to easily share jobsite information downstream, including 3D models and images.

minimises risk

Outcome:

Bluebeam Revu and Studio have allowed Arup to cut design review times by as much as 60% while maintaining quality. Additionally Revu also allowed Arup to minimise risk by using previously unusable as-built drawings and converting them into scalable, accurate and efficiently annotated digital PDFs suitable for client deliverables.

Utilising the power of digital PDFs within Revu has allowed Arup to move toward being a paperless office, showing a significant savings in paper-based costs and tools.

Last but not least, the mobile capabilities of Revu and Studio keep employees engaged in activity-based working, as opposed to spending time in administrative or document search capacities.

In 2019, Bluebeam (Through digitalising paper-based workflows) has helped the construction industry save and estimated 3,900 trees, amounting to 32 million sheets of paper.
